I certainly didn’t intend for consecutive posts about restaurants in the Old Fourth Ward, but it’s no secret that it’s got it goin’ on these days. Before heading over to Serpas a few weeks ago with friends, I made a pit-stop just down the road where a second group of friends were dining at a packed house at Dynamic Dish for pizza night. If you haven’t been in the O4W lately, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for.

Scott Serpas
I enjoyed Scott Serpas’ food at Two Urban Licks and looked forward to checking this place out. Serpas True Food is housed in a building that was originally a cotton storage facility in the 1900s. The large open space has many modern design elements mixed in with touches of old.

Serpas is from Louisiana and New Orleans is definitely about having fun – our server was amazing and made sure everyone had a good time.

Serpas gets bonus points with me and my crew for $25 bottles of wine, in addition to the reserve list.

What about the “true food?.” It delivered. I went with a large group and plenty of plates were passed around the table, including the Texas Crab Toast, flash fried oysters, and eggplant hushpuppies.

I enjoyed the gulf shrimp with navy bean tarragon ravioli which was delicious – plump seafood withplenty of seasoning. I also tried the sea scallops and Serpas’ version of the burger and enjoyed those as well.

We all had a great time at Serpas and I look forward to going back.
