Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival

The farmer’s markets are teeming with tomatoes this time of year – ready for a little olive oil & cracked pepper, or the Southern favorite the tomato sandwich. Atlanta chefs have a bit more in mind as they come together this weekend for the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Festival this weekend in a benefit for Georgia Organics.

Dishes include Hector Santiago of Pura Vida‘s dish of salted heirloom tomatoes “ceviche” with silken cuajada de cabra & puffed grains,  Hugh Acheson of Five and Ten‘s pickled tomato salad with ham dust & buttermilk dressing and Joe Truex of Re’past‘s local heirlooms, tomato parfait, tomato sorbet & tarragon.

Not to be outdone area mixologists plan to go beyond the bloody mary and prepare a selection of libations for the crowd. Tickets can be purchased online at GeorgiaOrganics.org
