Sugar for you! Sugar for me! This Saturday, April 17th food bloggers nationwide are holding bake sales to benefit Share Our Strength, the country’s leading hunger based charity – and the opening of their fundraising season.

My good friend Tami from Running with Tweezers is leading Atlanta’s effort and the 1st Annual Georgia Food Bloggers Bake Sale will kick off at 9am (through 1pm!) this Saturday. The sale will be located at the Cabbagetown Market in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta, near Oakland Cemetery. Parking has been generously donated by the folks at Agave Restaurant – they’ve generously offered a $10 coupon who makes a purchase at the sale. (Agave is worth a trip for their margaritas alone!)

In addition to bloggers, a number of area businesses have stepped up to offer their sugar-laced goodies,  including Maison Robert, Rathbun’s and Scratch Bakery.

100% of the proceeds from this bake sale go to Share Out Strength so I’m hoping that you’ll stop by and pick up some baked goods and help out. If you aren’t able to come in person, you’re in luck! Please stop by the team page – monetary, tax deductible donations can be made there. As mentioned above, the sale is nationwide, so you may find a bake sale in your neck of the woods — Chicago , Philadelphia , San Francisco and Seattle are just a couple of cities taking part. Check your favorite local blog or do the google thing.
