It never fails, whenever I get back from a trip to Athens, GA – I return home to Atlanta wondering why I don’t make the drive more often. A year ago I made the trek with Tami for the Georgia Organics conference, and since then I’ve visited once last summer – with the same intentions as this one, to check out the FourCoursemen.

The FourCoursemen is a supper club that holds dinners periodically on Saturdays in an old house near downtown Athens, not far from the University of Georgia. I could also call it an “underground” supper club, however they’ve been featured in an array of publications from Garden & Gun to a feature in Food & Wine.

I didn’t have my camera with me on the first trip in August & really enjoyed the food and wine I enjoyed that night. An incredibly inventive menu, from goods procured at the local farmer’s markets & wine (all old world that evening, with a rare beer pairing) from Five Points Bottle Shop (definitely worth a visit if heading to Athens). That night was actually my second attempt, as I failed miserably at getting an RSVP for a previous event, as they’re pretty popular. The 25 or so seats fill up within *seconds* once the online reservations system goes live.

I photographed a bit of the prep before the dinner and hung out in the kitchen during service. They’ve been at it since 2008 and have a great time experimenting and bouncing ideas off each other. No dish is ever repeated and they’re eager for feedback.
