Shop upon shop featuring artisan bread and cheese, French pastries, top held restaurants, butchers & fish mongers — it’s a reality of the famed Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco featured above. Can we expect something similar in Atlanta?
Unfortunately we’ll have to wait to see what becomes of the old City Hall East building as it transforms to Ponce City Market in late 2013. The folks that brought us the stellar renovation of the Westside Provisions District on the Westside are now turning their sites to the 2.1 million square foot property that originally served as Atlanta’s first Sears.
This weekend on October 1st, developers are throwing a Party at Ponce which will serve as a fundraiser for the Atlanta Beltline Partnership and Georgia Organics. The Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins and Francine Reed will serve as musical entertainment for the evening. Atlanta’s chefs will also be taking part, including Kevin Rathbun of Rathbun’s, Shaun Doty of Yeah! Burger, Hugh Acheson of Empire State South and Ron Eyester of Rosebud. They’ll also be joined by chefs from Atlanta food trucks.
For those curious about the history of the building, tours will be held the night of the event on a first-come, first serve basis. Tickets for the fundraiser are available now on the Party at Ponce website.
