Huh? What’s that sound that I hear? I’m pretty sure it’s the marketing machine behind the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival grinding again after a few months, getting folks excited for the next edition of their event that made it’s debut last year, just in time for the holiday gift giving season. The event returns in 2012 on Mother’s Day weekend, May 10th-13th.

Last year, AF&WF had the difficult task of building a festival from scratch and getting the word out that they had no relationship to Taste of Atlanta, and although they share a similar name to the festival down in South Beach, it’s an entirely different animal. Paula Deen & Bobby Flay wouldn’t be greeting people coming into Midtown. Festival organizers dug deep and brought chefs from around the South to present their food to both Atlantans and visitors alike.

Although this year’s iteration is in the planning stages, gift certificates are available now, and since I have a plethora of photos from last year’s festival, I thought I’d share a few more in this Holiday Exposure post. In addition to Atlanta restaurants, purveyors from neighboring states Florida & North Carolina provided treats in the tasting tents.

You’ll find folks who’ve made a name for themselves on the national stage, including Chef Suzanne Vizethan who won her episode of Food Network’s Chopped, Hugh Acheson who’s made a name for himself on Top Chef Masters and now judge on Top Chef, and Edward Lee of Louisville, KY’s 610 who is currently competing on the show.

Gift certificates are available online at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival website.
