I attended one the pre-opening parties for STG Trattoria a few weeks back and posted a few iPhone shots on Twitter and Instagram. STG is the brainchild of Bocado owner Brian Lewis who wanted to bring his idea of rustic Italian cuisine to Buckhead It can be a bit tricky to find as it it’s in the rear of a large shopping center, however it’s just to the right of the St. Regis Hotel.

The restaurant features a large open kitchen and sharp design aesthetics as you’d imagine from Bocado’s uptown sister, and the restaurant’s twin Acunto ovens take center stage.  The restaurant has former Abattoir chef Josh Hopkins on board, so you’ll find an offal influence or two — veal tongue & anchovy ‘toasts’ were on parade while I was there.

You won’t find a full sit-down bar but you will be welcomed into the restaurant by a wall of wine and the amaro cocktails that I tried were refreshing. I didn’t try pastas that evening but Brian mentioned that Bruce Logue, formerly of La Pietra Cucina will be helping out while his own upcoming restaurant project BoccaLupo gets off the ground.  I hope to get back soon to try more of the menu.
