Three Taverns Craft Brewery opened their Decatur doors to the public this week, and if you’re reading this early on Saturday, tickets are still available for their grand opening weekend. After years of supporting Atlanta and Athens craft beer scene, it’s great to see that Decatur has their own homegrown beers. Nearby, Blue Tarp is also open for tours on Saturdays (they’re closed today, due to their attendance at the Great American Beer Fest in Denver). In nearby Avondale Estates, Wild Heaven has announced plans to begin construction.
I’ve tried their beers previously when they debuted around town at Brick Store Pub, Single Intent and A Night in Brussels, that are available at numerous bars and restaurants around town and in bottles for retail purchase. I’m definitely a dark beer fan, especially with the cooler weather we’re experiencing, so I was happy to see that they’ve got a Russian Imperial Stout on the bill. Nathan tells me that there are plans for it to be released in large format bottles, so definitely look out for that, or stop in at the brewery. It’s a beautiful space with tons of wood and brick – a definite man cave kind of vibe.
